Remembering the past so we can preserve our future...

Nyen itiat ase ana nte eka ana (The big and the small nut-cracking rocks must all be together)
Living in an environment with lots of nuts from trees meant a way had to be devised to crack such nuts. One of the strongest nuts to crack was the palm fruit and so using rocks that were easily obtained from the surroundings, the preferred method was hitting the nut against a rock using a smaller rock. Thus the saying that the smaller rock must be near the bigger one if both are to be useful.
Certain things go together and fit so well that we cannot have one without the other. In the same way certain things seem to make our lives complete and we become the poorer when such things are absent from our lives. Certain individuals also make our lives richer, but sometimes we behave as if we do not need others in our lives. Our people knew that certain things complement each other and other individuals make our lives complete
What is it that makes your life complete? Is it your children, significant other, or spouse? Who are the people that you have opened your life to and with whom do you share? When was the last time you let them know that they are important in your life? As our people observed long ago, closeness is what defines and makes relationships. Whether you are physically close or far away from those dear to you, we hope that you cultivate a habit that communicates love.
