AABA DIEGH/ AATIE DIEGH?

Among the Annang good health implies much more than a good physiological functioning. It is wholeness. Aaba Diegh simply translated means "How is it? It is a common form of greeting in Annang among both acquaintances and strangers and implies much more than an inquiry on one's physical state of health. Our people know that individuals function well in the world when they are in tune with all that is around them socially, physically and spiritually. Therefore, Aatie diegh implies: "Are you whole?. Are you functioning well? Are you complete, and do you see the world well in its proper perspective?" It inquires about one's interpretation of events in the world and seeks to know from the individual about his or her understanding of the individual's place and position in the surroundings. It seeks to know about the general state of affairs.
Health among the Annang is more than a physical barometer and involves the mind, the body, the spirit and the realtionship of the individual to the social and spiritual order.
