Annang Pledge

Awo Annang

ANNANG PLEDGE

I am an Annang person,
I have been called that and I follow in the footsteps
Of those who were Annang before me.
It has something to do with my speech pattern,
My food preferences
The music I listen to, the stories of our land,
My people, in sum my life and history.
I will not deny this ethnic identification.
 I was born an Annang person, and will die as one;
I have a strong reason to hold on to this identity.
There is a deep commonality known only to my people;
It is what makes us who we are.
My forebears make up in valor what they lacked in numbers,
Hence the saying: Annang isiwakawak, ese ededeghe.
I will strive to continue in their footsteps,
And leave Annangland better than before.

AWO ANNANG

Ami nde awo Annang
Ese-enkot ntere sa nkenne udim Annang ke edem.
