Rev. Fr. John Bosco Ekanem, Ph.D.

John Bosco Ekanem was born on 1st January 1949, at Nto Obo village in Abak Local Government of Akwa Ibom State. He attended St. Michael’s Primary School, Nto Obo, St. Michael’s Midim, St. Charles, Ukana Uwa West. After his primary education he proceeded to Queen of Apostles’ Seminary, Afaha Obong for his secondary education. He later studied Philosophy and Theology in Marianum Philosophy Seminary Afaha Obong and Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, respectively.
An educationist, he has taught in many secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State after post graduate studies in education in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. After many years of teaching, he proceeded to the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, where he had a doctorate degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, specialising in Legal Anthropology, precisely in Annang Traditional Legal System.
A member of International Commission of Folklaw Legal Pluralism, he is an external examiner in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. Rev. Fr. (Dr.) John Bosco Ekanem is currently a Senior Lecturer in St. Joseph Major Seminary, Ikot Ekpene, and he is also the Vice Rector of the Institution. He has researched intensively into Annang Culture and has published over fifteen articles in reputed national and international journals. His published books include
